Jonathan Humphreys

Humanistic Counsellor and Therapist (BACP reg.)
Founder of Bethnal Green Therapy

https://www.jonathan-humphreys.com

I am Jonny, a BACP registered humanistic counsellor and therapist working with individuals over 18.I came to train as a therapist following a successful career as a theatre director and charity CEO, having come to realise the value I found in fostering the growth of others. I started my own practice Bethnal Green Therapy after working for a number of years as an associate at Archway Therapy in North London as well as St Joseph's Hospice in Hackney.I work with a wide variety of clients and have particular expertise in supporting clients with relationships and connection; loss of meaning or purpose; life transitions (parenthood, menopause, quarter and mid life); bereavement and loss; feeling stuck; depression, anxiety and low mood; the specific challenges of a career in the creative industries and the arts.My approach is to work with you the way I'd like a therapist to work with me: directly, collaboratively with emotional honesty, transparency and sensitivity. My approach is open, warm, and intuitive, listening carefully to where you are and where you would like to be. I'll ask questions that encourage you to think differently. I'll notice patterns when I see them. I'll also sit with you in the messy, uncertain parts without rushing to make it all make sense. My training was humanistic, which means I'm not here to diagnose you and am more interested in understanding how you make meaning, what drives you, and what a rich, purposeful life might look like for you specifically.Therapy won't give you easy answers or quick fixes. What I can promise is a space where you don't have to pretend, where you can be honest about where you are at, and where we can work together to figure out what is going on inside you and what you actually want your life to look like.I charge £80 per session and have some limited concessions available.

Dan Lee

Therapist (BACP reg.)

https://www.danleetherapy.com

I'm a therapist working with men and LGBTQ+ clients experiencing addiction, recovery, shame, self-esteem difficulties, anxiety, codependency, and relationship challenges. My approach is relational, trauma-informed, and collaborative. I believe that many of the difficulties we experience in adulthood have their roots in earlier experiences and the ways we learned to adapt and survive them. Therapy offers an opportunity to better understand those patterns, develop a more compassionate relationship with ourselves, and create meaningful, lasting change. Before moving into private practice, I worked within a 12-step drug and alcohol rehabilitation service in South London and with substance misuse teams in two London men's prisons. My experience includes individual therapy, group work, and facilitating workshops on addiction, recovery, mental health, and emotional wellbeing.I have a particular interest in working with shame, self-worth, identity, and belonging. Many of the clients I work with have spent years feeling different, disconnected, or as though they need to hide parts of themselves in order to be accepted. Together, we can begin to explore these experiences and develop a more compassionate relationship with who you are.Alongside my professional training, I bring lived experience of recovery, queer identity, and neurodiversity (ASD). These experiences have shaped my understanding of what it can feel like to navigate the world carrying shame, feeling different, or struggling to feel fully accepted as yourself.I am an active and engaged therapist who values authenticity and human connection. Whilst I will always respect your pace and autonomy, I won't simply sit silently and nod. I'll ask questions, offer reflections, and where appropriate, gently challenge patterns that may be keeping you stuck. My hope is that therapy becomes a space where you feel safe enough to explore all aspects of yourself without judgement, helping you move towards greater self-acceptance, healthier relationships, and a life that feels more connected, meaningful, and authentically your own.I charge £90 per session and have some limited concessions available.
